Tree With Very Big Roots 900x506

At some point, a Christian is going to hear about love in the Bible. There is no way to get away from it. On top of that, they are going to come across the term being rooted and grounded in love. What exactly does being rooted and grounded in love even mean?

Being rooted and ground in love means to be rooted and grounded in Jesus Christ. In the Bible, Jesus is considered love. Every born again believer is rooted and grounded in Christ Jesus who is love. Jesus is their foundation in which they live life. (1 John 4:8, Ephesians 3:17, Colossians 2:6-7)

  • 1 John 4:8 (KJV)  He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
  • Ephesians 3:17 (KJV)  That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
  • Colossians 2:6-7 (KJV)  As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:  7  Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

When a person is rooted and grounded in love aka Christ Jesus they can live a true life with God. Let’s look into this more in-depth to gain a clearer understanding.

Blessed Is The Man That Trusts In The Lord | Rooted & Grounded Tree

The Bible is full of parables with hidden truths and meanings. One of the parables with a special meaning is the blessed man who trusts in the Lord. What does the Bible say about a person who trusts in the Lord?

The person that trusts in the Lord is like a tree planted by water, that spreads out their roots by the river, they don’t know when the heat cometh, but their leaf shall be green. They are not careful in the year of drought and neither shall they cease from yielding fruit.

  • Jeremiah 17:8 (KJV)  For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

Rooted & Grounded In Love | Near The Water

Tree With Roots Near Water 900x506

Let’s go through this with the explanation. The person that trusts in the Lord is like a tree planted near the waters. A tree that has no water source will eventually die. A tree that has a constant supply of water will not thirst and will grow. The Bible often refers to water as the Holy Ghost and also the Word. This tree relies on the water which is the word, Jesus, Holy Spirit, or in other words God who causes them to grow and have life.

  • John 1:1 (KJV)  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
  • John 1:14 (KJV)  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
  • Ephesians 5:26 (KJV)  That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
  • John 4:14 (KJV)  But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

A tree that is near water will have the roots grow out towards the water to drink from it. God says for a born again believer to be rooted and grounded in love. Jesus/God is love according to scripture. Jesus says those that believe on him, out of their belly shall flow rivers of living waters. Jesus was referring to the Holy Spirit flowing from within them.

  • 1 John 4:16 (KJV)  And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
  • John 7:38-39 (KJV)  He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.  39  (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

In other words, the person that trusts in the Lord will be rooted and grounded in love which is God/Jesus. Their roots are by the river so they are filled with the Holy Ghost, they are dwelling in God and God in them.

Rooted & Grounded In Love | Bearing Fruit In The Drought

Green Lush Tree Rooted 900x506

The tree will not see when the heat cometh. The person that trusts in the Lord does not know when the return of the Son Jesus Christ will be.

  • Matthew 24:36 (KJV)  But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
  • 2 Peter 3:10-12 (KJV)  But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.  11  Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,  12  Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

Only the Father knows the day of the Lord Jesus Christs return. On that day the elements shall melt with fervent heat.

The good news for this tree, in particular, is that it will have green leaves, it will not worry or be careful in the season of drought, and will still continue to yield fruit. The person who trusts in the Lord will not be consumed by any droughts that may come in the world. So they have no reason to fear or be careful because the Lord is with them. The Lord is their provider and will keep their leaf green and they will still bear fruit during those seasons.

However a person who does not trust in the Lord is in the opposite scenario. They will be effected by the drought, it will effect their leaf, and they will be worried cause they are unable to bear fruit.

It’s in times like these where the person who trusts in the Lord gets to share their fruit with those other trees. Jesus sent us forth to do the same works and greater works as he did. He told us wherever we go to tell them the kingdom is at hand and to give them the word.

  • John 20:21 (KJV)  Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.
  • John 14:12 (KJV)  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
  • Matthew 10:7-8 (KJV)  And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.  8  Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

The person/tree that trust in the Lord and is yielding fruit has the great honor of introducing Jesus to the people who don’t trust in the Lord and which is considered a tree that has no fruit. They get to give them the kingdom freely.

What’s that look like? If someone is sick, lay hands on the sick so they recover in Jesus name. If someone dies, then raise the dead in Jesus name. If a devil needs to be cast out, cast it out in Jesus name. The born again believer is plugged into the source of life which is God. In other words, they are rooted and grounded in love.

  • Luke 17:21 (KJV)  Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
  • Romans 14:17 (KJV)  For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

The born again believer that trusts in the Lord has the kingdom within them and is able to share the fruit of life with those without. With the hope that those trees would become planted/rooted in the Lord Jesus Christ as well.

  • Romans 2:4 (KJV)  Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

It is the goodness of God that leads those trees in trouble/people without Jesus to repentance. God wants them all to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ so they can be rooted and grounded in love!
