Feelings and emotions seem to be either a blessing or a curse depending on how people look at it. Some feelings or emotions seem to be good and people never want it to stop. While others seem to be bad and people want to get rid of it as soon as possible. These feelings and emotions are something everyone deals with in one way or another. It affects some people’s choices and decisions more than they realize.
So what does God/the Bible say about feelings and emotions for believers? Feelings and emotions are not necessarily good or bad. It’s something we can enjoy in life or something we are enslaved to. Whether they be good or bad, these are not things we live by. A believer is supposed to live by faith and not feelings or emotions. (See Romans 1:17, Galatians 3:11 & Hebrews 10:38)
Everyone is born into this world with senses that create feelings and emotions. Since we are born this way, we all at some point have lived according to these things. However, throughout scripture, God tells believers who they are and how to manage these feelings and emotions. What God says seems to go against everything we thought we knew before hearing Him on the matter. So let’s take a fresh look at what God says about this so we can have a healthy perspective that will bless our daily walk and others with God.

Feelings & Emotions We All Are Born With
Everyone who is born into this earth is born with a sinful nature because of what happened in the garden of Eden with Adam & Eve sinning. The only people who were not born with this sin nature were Adam, Eve & Jesus. Since this nature plays a role in how we interpret feelings and emotions its a good idea to look into it.
The day Adam and Eve ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil is the day they died. This was the day they took on the sinful nature. After this moment their senses and emotions began to affect them a different way. This is how everyone is now born into this world.
- Genesis 2:17 (KJV) But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
- Genesis 3:7 (KJV) And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
A Different Perspective Of Feelings
When Adam/Eve ate, their eyes were open to a different reality than before. Not only did this affect their way of seeing but also their emotions and feelings.
Before they ate from the tree there was no indication of them ever being afraid of God. They enjoyed the presence of God and knew God enjoyed hanging with them as well. Adam/Eve only was aware of good things. They had no grid what evil even was. This FEELING of being afraid was something different. God didn’t want them to know about this or evil either.
Let’s see how things shifted after their eyes opened to good and evil now as well.
Before they knew about “evil”, they were naked and NOT ASHAMED. After they were afraid.
- Genesis 2:25 (KJV) And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
- Genesis 3:7-10 (KJV) And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. 8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. 9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? 10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
It’s amazing that instantly their perspective shifted. Also their reality, lifestyle and “FEELINGS”. Now they knew they were naked and were afraid. They began to try to hide their identity and cover up their mistakes. They now looked and felt differently towards God. They tried to hide and was afraid of Him.
Another interesting point is before their eyes opened God had Adam/Eve keep the Garden of Eden. They worked and dressed it! However, after their eyes opened they still had to work but now this feeling shifted towards it. He mentions now sorrow and sweat being involved in certain things.
- Genesis 2:15-17 (KJV) And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. 16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
- Genesis 3:17-19 (KJV) And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; 18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; 19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
Also, notice how before they could freely eat ANYTHING from any tree except the tree of knowledge of good and evil. After their eyes open they could still eat but sorrow would be tied to it now. This was a new foreign FEELING.
God also told them before the fall to be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth. After the fall, childbirth would now bring along sorrow/pain/worry in conception. Before the fall conception was meant to be without any of these types of “FEELINGS”.
- Genesis 1:28 (KJV) And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
- Genesis 3:16 (KJV) Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
God never wanted it to be this way from the start.
That’s why before they were able to commune with God and not be in fear.
That’s why before they were able to eat food and enjoy it without having to feel bad about eating the sweet stuff or to much. Can you imagine eating dessert all day without feeling bad about it?
That’s why when they worked to keep the garden there was no stress or toil involved. At least they didn’t see it from that perspective before. They enjoyed working. Wouldn’t you want to experience that?
That’s why God even gave them dominion over all the animals and earth. He gave them the power to subdue the snake cause He knew the snake was coming, trying to mess them up! They were already created in the image of God but after the fall they sure didn’t FEEL that way anymore. (See Genesis 1:7)
Although they were tricked and made a mistake, God never shifted His heart and love towards them. Even you and I for that matter. That’s why He kept pursuing them, (See Genesis 3:8) loving them even in this false identity they now believed and were subject to. He even clothed Adam/Eve with proper clothing from an animal sacrifice to cover their sins. (See Genesis 3:21)
Today we are now born in this fallen state of sin from birth. We are groomed from a child in this false reality. This is why some people run and hide from God just like Adam/Eve did. They allow their FEELINGS to shape their identity instead of Jesus Christ. (See Genesis 3:15,20. Romans 5:12-21)
Which brings me to my next point. Since we are groomed in life by these feelings from birth, how do we overcome them and handle them? That’s through Jesus Christ/God and believing who He says we are.
How To Handle Feelings & Emotions
The truth is we all experience feelings and emotions. Jesus and the disciples did as well. The problem is how we identify with those feelings. The quick and simple answer is trusting what God said is how we take authority over those feelings/emotions. Then you will begin to see a change you never were aware of before. However, if you don’t know what God said then you will be an easy target to be moved by feelings and emotions.
Jesus makes a very interesting statement in the book of John.
- John 3:3 (KJV) Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
The truth is we must be born again to see the kingdom of God and what life was like before the fallen state of sin. This was God’s original plan to bring us back in that type of communion with Him right now. Just how it was before Adam/Eve ate from the tree of knowledge.
The only way that comes is through Jesus Christ. Through Him cleansing us from all our sins/the old sin nature and Him becoming our Lord/Saviour who we follow.
- Romans 10:8-11 (KJV) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
The scripture above states how people become saved and born again. When this takes place God takes away the old man/sin nature and places His own nature in them. Notice none of this is based on FEELINGS/EMOTIONS but on faith/believing God.
Faith Over Feelings Or Emotions
At this point God wants you to begin to see things from His perspective and no longer your old way of seeing from a fallen state. This includes seeing differently about FEELINGS and EMOTIONS.
Let’s take an example from scripture and apply this. What does God say when you become born again?
- Your sins have been forgiven.
- Colossians 2:13-15 (KJV) And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; 14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; 15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
- 1 John 2:12 (KJV) I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake.
- You have been justified and made righteous by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
- Hebrews 10:10 (KJV) By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
- Hebrews 10:12-14 (KJV) But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; 13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. 14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
- Romans 4:24-25 (KJV) But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; 25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
- He no longer remembers your sins.
- Hebrews 10:15-17 (KJV) Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before, 16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; 17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
- Hebrews 8:10-12 (KJV) For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: 11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. 12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
- He has now given you the mind of Christ.
- 1 Corinthians 2:16 (KJV) For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
- Philippians 2:5-8 (KJV) Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
- Hebrews 10:22-23 (KJV) Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
- The old things/sin nature has passed away and it’s now Christ living in you.
- 2 Corinthians 5:17-19 (KJV) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
- We have boldness and confidence.
- Ephesians 3:11-12 (KJV) According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: 12 In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.
- Hebrews 10:19 (KJV) Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
- 1 John 4:17 (KJV) Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
- He heals our physical body.
- Psalms 103:3 (KJV) Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
- 1 Peter 2:24 (KJV) Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
There are plenty of other scriptures I could reference but notice how God tells us certain things about ourselves here in these verses above. These scriptures all make a statement about who we are.
These statements have nothing to do with feelings or emotions. He is specifically telling us who we are now in Christ Jesus. God makes these very statements so we have a foundation where we can stand and trust Him regardless of what thoughts try to come or FEELINGS/EMOTIONS. These promises come through Jesus Christ! He doesn’t mention anything about if you FEEL a certain way. You either believe what He said and accept it as truth or your reject what He said and believe a different voice.
The reason this seems hard to a lot of born again believers is that they have a voice outside constantly trying to change what’s already been made right on the inside. Sound familiar?
It’s that same outside voice that was the serpent trying to trick Adam/Eve into thinking they were not like God already. Although they were already made in His image.
- Genesis 1:27 (KJV) So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
- Genesis 3:1-6 (KJV) Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? 2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. 6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
The serpent had to trick their perspective on what God already said. He tried to get them away from trusting what God said. He did this by speaking and opposing what God said.
- We know if they ate that fruit they would definitely die but the serpent twisted their thoughts about what death really was.
- We know Adam’s/Eve’s eyes were already open but the serpent tricked them into thinking they were closed.
- We know they were already created in God’s image but the serpent made them think they weren’t.
Filter It Through The Word
Today he is up to his same old schemes as back then. He thinks if he speaks loud enough or questions what God said He can shift our thinking. He intentionally will question what God says and then target your senses/flesh to try to make you believe him instead of God.
Why? He knows that if he can get you more focused on your senses/feelings/emotions apart from the Word/Bible then you may change the way you think about what God said.
- Romans 8:5-11 (KJV) For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. 10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
- Genesis 3:15 (KJV) And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
Satan has a voice that will try to invade your thoughts and question God. He constantly is trying to war against God and he knows the best place to do that is your mind. Although he already lost.
To clarify, I’m not saying Satan is your mind. What I’m saying is, if I was with you and said what’s your favorite food? Then it will trigger you to think about that. This is what Satan is trying to do, trigger you to get you to doubt God’s Word.
These questions he brings up trigger thoughts that provoke your senses or things that pertain to your senses apart from God. He knows our old sin nature lived according to these things and most people in general still live according to feelings and not faith. (Non-believers for example)
This is why it’s so important to know what God said because you are what you believe.
- Proverbs 23:7 (KJV) For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.
- Proverbs 4:20-23 (KJV) My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. 21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. 22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. 23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
So what do you do when Satan triggers these lyings questions or thoughts? It’s simple, stand on God’s Word and believe that over the lie. IT DOES NOT MATTER HOW YOU FEEL RIGHT AT THAT MOMENT. Things that you may not FEEL OR SEE right then are SUBJECT TO CHANGE to LINE UP WITH GOD’S WORD. It’s the things you can’t see that are eternal! So, therefore, we filter all thoughts through the FILTER OF GOD’S WORD.
- 2 Corinthians 4:18 (KJV) While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
- Hebrews 11:3 (KJV) Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
- Hebrews 4:11-12 (KJV) Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. 12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
- 2 Corinthians 10:3-6 (KJV) For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
So whatever THOUGHT, FEELING, EMOTION, VOICE or ANYTHING that does not line up with THE WORD of GOD is subject to change. We take those thoughts captive, throw it in a prison cell and bring OUR THOUGHTS into the obedience of Christ. In other words, we choose to not believe the lie and choose to believe/trust what God already said.
When you begin to live this way. Not try it out or test it, but live from this perspective. Then you will begin to see change and what God said manifest. The only way to do that is by faith/believing and that comes by hearing the word of God.
- Romans 10:17 (KJV) So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
- Hebrews 11:1 (KJV) Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
- 1 Timothy 1:17 (KJV) Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Find out what the Bible says. Hear what God said the truth is. Then choose to believe that no matter what. Then things will change. Then you will know what true rest is. Then you will FEEL what true happiness and joy is. Then your EMOTIONS will shift. Which brings me to my next point, is all FEELINGS/EMOTIONS bad?
What About Good Feelings & Emotions?
Not all feelings and emotions are bad. There are plenty of good types of feelings and emotions in the Bible that we can enjoy in Christ Jesus. However, we still do not live our lives based on FEELINGS. We live by FAITH in Jesus Christ.
There are plenty of verses that notate good feelings. Let’s look at some below.
- Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
- Matthew 11:28-30 (KJV) Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
- Nehemiah 8:10 (KJV) Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.
- 2 Thessalonians 3:16 (KJV) Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.
- Luke 1:14 (KJV) And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.
- Luke 24:51-52 (KJV) And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven. 52 And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:
- 1 Peter 3:14 (KJV) But and if ye suffer for righteousness’ sake, happy are ye:and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;
- 1 Peter 4:14 (KJV) If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye;for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.
- Romans 5:1 (KJV) Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
The above verses mention good emotions or feelings we should embrace. We have love, peace, great joy, gladness, goodness, rest and more. As long as it lines up with scripture. All these feelings/emotions we can and should enjoy. The reason we can embrace these feelings is cause God has given us these things through Jesus.
So if these feelings or emotions come just embrace it and enjoy it. However, we still don’t live by these feelings or emotions. Let me give you some examples.
- Whether you feel loved by God or don’t feel it, that doesn’t change the truth about Him loving you.
- Whether you feel confident or strong in the Lord that doesn’t change the truth that if you felt weak, He is still perfect in that very weakness.
- If you accepted the prince of peace into your heart (Jesus) whether you feel at peace or not doesn’t change the truth about Him being in you. So you have peace which is Him.
- Whether you feel at rest or stressed it doesn’t matter cause the truth is that God has given you rest through Jesus.
What I’m saying is the Word/Bible trumps feelings and emotions. That’s the truth. Feelings may come and go but the truth will never change. The reason most people struggle with this is because of their perspectives on the subject of feelings and emotions.
A Different Perspective On Feelings & Emotions
I want to point out a certain type of perspective that can be toxic or a huge blessing. The best part is it’s all based around your perspective. The good news is you can choose which perspective to have whether good or bad. However, it’s up to you.
Here is an example in regard to a specific scenario that can have two totally different perspectives and impacts. WORK.
Let’s face it the majority of people hate working lol. Trust me I get it and have been there myself. At one particular job/scenario, I was looking at paperwork all day and felt stressed. It’s not a good feeling to have and I dreaded waking up every morning to work.
On the other hand, there are some that enjoy work. They wake up and love what they are about to go do. I have also had the pleasure of enjoying this feeling and emotion as well with a job. Here I got to speak with people daily and help them find what they were looking for and recommend certain technology types of products etc. I loved waking up going to this job.
What’s interesting is some people enjoy reading lots of paperwork and enjoy the first job I spoke about but I knew that was a temporary stop for me. I was a file clerk. Some people, on the other hand, hate the second type of Job I did but I loved going to work every day. I was an employee at Best Buy.
I no longer work at either of those places but I learned some God-given lessons at both. I was basing my perspective on the two jobs by feelings and emotions. I had based them both on how I felt at the moment. I didn’t realize there was a third option!
Let’s go back to the beginning and see how Adam/Eve reacted to work and food before they sinned and after they sinned. This is a good lesson for all of us to see.
- Before they sinned. (Saw from God’s perspective)
- After they ate from the tree of knowledge and died. (Saw from a fallen perspective)
- Genesis 3:23 (KJV) Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
The word “dress” in Genesis 2:15 is the same Hebrew word for “till” in Genesis 3:23.
- The Hebrew word in the concordance is H5647 abad. This means to work or serve.
What’s extremely intriguing to me is it’s the same word! In a nutshell before the fall “work” was enjoyable and they could eat anything except the tree of knowledge. They enjoyed life with God free from stress! They could eat anything free from sorrow! Could you imagine eating ice cream and have no sorrow of putting on a couple of extra pounds with it! This was life before their perspective on the word “abad” or “work”. Well, at least a part of life.
On the other hand, after they sinned and perspective changed this word “abad” or “work” seemed different. Food also now seemed to have an emotion that could be tied to it, sorrow. Now when they ate certain things they would feel bad or when they went to work with the ground they would be stressed/sweat!
The only thing that changed was their perspective! So prior to the fall maybe they did “sweat” but they never noticed it or it didn’t bother them? Or perhaps they didn’t sweat at all. The point I’m making is Adam/Eve didn’t realize that “work” was “work” before the fall. They had emotions that they enjoyed tied to “work”. They just were enjoying the “work” with God! After the fall they noticed this bad feeling or emotion in regards to “work”.
The third option we can have deals with our life after we are saved and born again. We now can live life from the perspective of God before the fall! We can enjoy work again in Jesus Christ. I came to realize as I spend time with God on my job as the file clerk or working at BestBuy I was able to enjoy my work! This happened when I began to do my job as unto the Lord and see from the perspective He gave me by faith.
- 1 Corinthians 2:10-16 (KJV) But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
It all came down to how I viewed work and what my purpose there was. I realized now I have a season that I get to help those around me in both work environments. The truth is as I got to love people and give them Jesus, my emotions and feelings changed. I began to enjoy working unto the Lord and being a blessing to others! It was amazing! The change wasn’t instant but it came! That also doesn’t mean feelings didn’t try to come and steal that joy. I just choose to not accept that perspective cause God is with me and loves me (His perspective). I choose to see myself the way He sees me. Guess what? That season of feelings changed and had to line back up to what God said originally!
You see we are now saved through Jesus and by faith we see how He sees. Whether at work or eating a meal. We no longer live by feelings. How it was after the fall. We live by faith in what God called us to be. How it was before the fall.
- 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (KJV) For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
- Romans 1:17 (KJV) For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
- Galatians 2:20-21 (KJV) I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. 21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
I no longer get stressed on the Job or by what I eat. That’s not in my DNA anymore, but Jesus is! I get to enjoy my life with Christ on this earth right now as if I never ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil! I get to live a life full of goodness! I’m living the good life with my creator and best friend! He sent the truth and the truth set me free. I’m no longer in bondage to the lie of living by feelings or emotions! You get the privilege of living this way as well! Don’t be deceived! Only believe!
I hope this post has blessed you and has opened your eyes to a new reality that God wants to show you. Take it back to God and ask Him about it. See what other scriptures He may reveal to you on the same subject!
