The Blessing Of Jacob By Isaac In The Bible | Secret Meaning

3 Kid Goats 900x506

I use to wonder about how God could bless Jacob instead of Esau. Things just didn’t seem to add up because of the way Jacob received the blessing from God by Isaac. Listening to other people try to explain the blessing of Jacob didn’t make sense either. Then God explained it to me through His word. So what is the secret meaning of the blessing of Jacob by Isaac in the Bible?

The secret meaning of the blessing of Jacob by Isaac in the Bible was because of God’s word and the sacrifice. Jacob was chosen before birth, based on the purpose of God according to election. Not works. Later Isaac was unable to discern Jacob from Esau because of the sacrifice of the kid goats. Therefore Isaac blessed Jacob because he thought it was Esau. This is a reflection of God’s plan today with believers. Isaac represents the Father, we represent Jacob and the sacrifice represents Jesus. Therefore God blesses us through Jesus Christ! (Genesis 27:9-12, 15-17, 21-23, Romans 9:9-13, Isaiah 41:8, 2 Thessalonians 2:13-14)

I’m so glad God opened my eyes to a new truth I never saw before. When God revealed this mystery about Isaac blessing Jacob I just had to share it with whoever was willing to listen! This revelation is exciting and encouraging at the same time! Below we are going to go through the verses which reveal this truth in depth.

The Blessing Of Jacob By Isaac In The Bible | Video Summary

Isaac Discerned The Sacrifice & Blessed Jacob

Let’s take a moment to go over a few key details that built up to the point of Isaac blessing Jacob. Let’s get into this!

God Blessed Jacob In The Womb By His Word

Before Jacob was ever born God chose to bless him.

  • Genesis 25:21-24 (KJV)  And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.  22  And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to enquire of the LORD.  23  And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.  24  And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.

Issac asks the Lord to bless Rebekah cause she was barren and couldn’t have children. God answers and she conceives two sons. She quickly was confused because the two children struggled with each other inside the womb and wondered why.

So she asked God about what’s going on and why that’s happening. God replied that it’s because the two sons are going to be two nations and the separation of the two has begun in her bowels or womb. God then tells Rebekah that the older son will serve the younger son. Notice that God did not tell Isaac this but only Rebekah.

  • Genesis 25:25-26 (KJV)  And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau.  26  And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau’s heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them.

God said this is what would happen. In other words, what God blessed can’t be cursed. In this case, God said Esau would serve Isaac. The word was spoken.

The blessing of Jacob was already in motion before the two children were ever born.

Right out of the gate Jacob went for the blessing because the word stated that his hand took hold on Esau’s heel. This is interesting because this is the very meaning of the name Jacob.

  • The Strong’s definition for Jacob means heel catcher which is supplanter.
  • Supplanter basically means to take over or the place of someone else. Usually its on purpose.

Jacob from the moment of birth was simply reacting based on the blessing that God spoke would happen to him. He would ultimately take over the place of the eldest son’s inheritance and blessing.

Jacob Receives Esau's Birthright Blessing

The firstborn and birthright carry a lot of weight. The birthright was a gift and blessing to the eldest son from a family. The eldest son didn’t have to work for this blessing cause it was something simply inherited by being the firstborn.

However, in this situation, God said the older son would serve the younger son. Since God said this it means it has to happen that way. The issue in the natural is that Jacob is younger so from a normal standpoint he can’t inherit the eldest son’s blessing. However, Jacob does end up receiving that very same blessing.

The true blessing of Jacob came the moment God spoke what will happen. At that moment nothing could curse the blessing upon Jacob’s life because God already spoke and blessed Jacob.

That being said, basically one day Jacob was making pottage and Esau came in from the field. Esau was very hungry and wanted some of Jacob’s food. So Jacob made an offer to Esau. The offer was for Esau to sell his birthright to him.

Genesis 25:29-33 (KJV)  And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint:  30  And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.  31  And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright.  32  And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?  33  And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.  34  Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright.

Notice only Esau, Jacob, and the Lord knew about how Esau gave away the birthright. Their parents didn’t know about this transaction between the two sons and birthright but God did. Esau didn’t have to give up his birthright but for the sake of being hungry, he did.

Esau ultimately despised his birthright for a moment to fill his stomach. Had low esteem or regard for the inheritance of being the firstborn and a full belly was of higher value to him in his eyes. He didn’t realize the future fruit of being the eldest son and having the blessing of a birthright. It was something you couldn’t work for but could only receive as a gift. The point is the blessing of that birthright was no longer his. It’s now Jacob’s blessing and birthright.

Isaac Blesses Jacob Instead Of Esau

Two Goats In Field 900x506

As time went on the moment eventually came where the inheritance of the eldest son came to receive the blessing. Isaac was older in age and ready to pass on.

  • Genesis 27:1-5 (KJV)  And it came to pass, that when Isaac was old, and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see, he called Esau his eldest son, and said unto him, My son: and he said unto him, Behold, here am I.  2  And he said, Behold now, I am old, I know not the day of my death:  3  Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison;  4  And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die.  5  And Rebekah heard when Isaac spake to Esau his son. And Esau went to the field to hunt for venison, and to bring it.

Let’s dissect this a moment. Isaac was ready to pass on the blessing of God. However he could no longer see. He spoke to Esau and requested a last meal before blessing him with the inheritance of being the eldest son. Rebekah heard this request and knew it was the time that the blessing would be given.

As we read earlier Isaac was not aware of what God told Rebekah. Only Rebekah knew what God said when she asked him about the babies in her womb.

  • Genesis 25:23 (KJV)  And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.

So when Rebekah heard that Isaac was about to bless Esau she responded based on what God told her would end up happening.

  • Genesis 27:6-10 (KJV)  And Rebekah spake unto Jacob her son, saying, Behold, I heard thy father speak unto Esau thy brother, saying,  7  Bring me venison, and make me savoury meat, that I may eat, and bless thee before the LORD before my death.  8  Now therefore, my son, obey my voice according to that which I command thee.  9  Go now to the flock, and fetch me from thence two good kids of the goats; and I will make them savoury meat for thy father, such as he loveth:  10  And thou shalt bring it to thy father, that he may eat, and that he may bless thee before his death.

Here is where things get interesting! Rebekah tells her son to obey her voice. It was her voice based on what God told her from the moment she was pregnant. The older shall server the younger. So she tells Jacob to go get two good kid goats. She is going to make a savoury meat dish for Isaac. This way Isaac will bless Jacob instead of Esau. Let’s take a look at how this played out.

  • Genesis 27:11-26 (KJV)  And Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, Behold, Esau my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth man:  12  My father peradventure will feel me, and I shall seem to him as a deceiver; and I shall bring a curse upon me, and not a blessing.  13  And his mother said unto him, Upon me be thy curse, my son: only obey my voice, and go fetch me them.  14  And he went, and fetched, and brought them to his mother: and his mother made savoury meat, such as his father loved.  15  And Rebekah took goodly raiment of her eldest son Esau, which were with her in the house, and put them upon Jacob her younger son:  16  And she put the skins of the kids of the goats upon his hands, and upon the smooth of his neck:  17  And she gave the savoury meat and the bread, which she had prepared, into the hand of her son Jacob.  18  And he came unto his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I; who art thou, my son?  19  And Jacob said unto his father, I am Esau thy firstborn; I have done according as thou badest me: arise, I pray thee, sit and eat of my venison, that thy soul may bless me.  20  And Isaac said unto his son, How is it that thou hast found it so quickly, my son? And he said, Because the LORD thy God brought it to me.  21  And Isaac said unto Jacob, Come near, I pray thee, that I may feel thee, my son, whether thou be my very son Esau or not.  22  And Jacob went near unto Isaac his father; and he felt him, and said, The voice is Jacob’s voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau.  23  And he discerned him not, because his hands were hairy, as his brother Esau’s hands: so he blessed him.  24  And he said, Art thou my very son Esau? And he said, I am.  25  And he said, Bring it near to me, and I will eat of my son’s venison, that my soul may bless thee. And he brought it near to him, and he did eat: and he brought him wine, and he drank.  26  And his father Isaac said unto him, Come near now, and kiss me, my son.

Ok, so there is a lot going on here. Jacob knew Isaac would question him and he was nervous but Rebekah knew God’s promise. However, he ultimately did what his mother asked. Remember as we discussed earlier only Jacob and Esau knew that Esau ended up giving Jacob the elder son’s birthright. So this is now rightfully Jacob’s. Rebekah and Isaac didn’t know about this but God did.

Although Isaac was old and his eyesight was bad doesn’t mean his other physical senses didn’t work as intended. Isaac can still distinguish things with taste, hearing, and feeling.

  • Jacob was a smooth skin man and Esau was very hairy. Pretty big distinctions by feeling and touch. Definitely a give away when Isaac would touch him.
  • Jacob had a different voice that Isaac could potentially discern.
  • Isaac asked for venison or deer, not goat. Which to taste is completely different. Also, the smell of the dish would be different.

If you read above, Isaac end’s up blessing Jacob because of the sacrifice of the kid goats. Isaac wondered how his request came so fast and also why “Esau” sounded like Jacob.

You see the sacrifice of the kid goats was enough to change Isaac’s perspective toward Jacob. The sacrifice made Jacob “hairy” and the goat tasted like “venison”. The sacrifice is what cause Isaac to bless Jacob.

Jacob's Blessing, The Sacrifice, Jesus

Wooden Cross On Hill Rock 900x506

Without the sacrifice of the two kid goats then Jacob wouldn’t have been blessed. Without the sacrifice, Isaac’s perspective of the eldest son and the inheritance wouldn’t have changed. This is the same way today with Jesus, the Father, and us!

Isaac represents the Father, Jesus represents the kid goats and born again believers represent Jacob.

God loved us so much He came to be our sacrifice so we can receive His inheritance. The inheritance of our eldest brother Jesus Christ! Jesus himself became the very sacrifice that removed our old sin nature and blessed us with the nature of God and His inheritance. He chose it to be this way for us!

Just like Isaac blessed Jacob, God the Father blessed us through Jesus Christ! Jesus took our sins and became sin at the cross to give us his righteousness. Now the Father sees us through the perspective of His eldest son Jesus Christ!

  • 2 Corinthians 5:17-21 (KJV)  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.  18  And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;  19  To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.  20  Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.  21  For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
  • Hebrews 10:4-17 (KJV)  For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.  5  Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:  6  In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.  7  Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.  8  Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;  9  Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.  10  By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.  11  And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:  12  But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;  13  From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.  14  For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.  15  Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,  16  This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;  17  And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
  • Romans 6:17-18 (KJV)  But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.  18  Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

When God showed me the correlation between the blessing of Jacob and the sacrifice it was a game-changer! The word is so beautifully intertwined with the truth if only people would seek the Word for the hidden gems! God wants to reveal it to us!

Now you’re probably are wondering about HOW Jacob received the blessing earlier. I mean most people wonder HOW could God bless Jacob based on how he and Rebekah responded to get it.

How Did Isaac See Jacob As He Blessed Him?

Isaac’s eye’s sight was dim in his old age and there for didn’t see naturally speaking. So how did Isaac see Jacob as he blessed him?

Isaac didn’t see Jacob with his natural eyes according to the flesh. Isaac saw the unseen things which are eternal according to the sacrifice. God sees the unseen. God also knows the difference between the corruptible seed and the incorruptible seed! Likewise, the only way to receive the incorruptible seed is through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Those who are born again are now called sons and receive the incorruptible seed and the full inheritance.

  • Genesis 27:18-26 (KJV)  And he came unto his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I; who art thou, my son? 27  And he came near, and kissed him: and he smelled the smell of his raiment, and blessed him, and said, See, the smell of my son is as the smell of a field which the LORD hath blessed:  28  Therefore God give thee of the dew of heaven, and the fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine:  29  Let people serve thee, and nations bow down to thee: be lord over thy brethren, and let thy mother’s sons bow down to thee: cursed be every one that curseth thee, and blessed be he that blesseth thee.
  • 1 Peter 1:19-23 (KJV)  But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:  20  Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,  21  Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.  22  Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:  23  Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
  • John 1:12-13 (KJV)  But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:  13  Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
  • John 8:14-16 (KJV)  Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.  15  Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man.  16  And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.
  • 2 Corinthians 4:18 (KJV)  While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

In other God saw Jacob according to The Word aka the sacrifice. God did not see Jacob according to the old man’s way of seeing things! God’s judgment is true not based on what the old man sees or the old corruptible way of discerning. God sees according to the truth.

  • Genesis 27:1 (KJV)  And it came to pass, that when Isaac was old, and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see, he called Esau his eldest son, and said unto him, My son: and he said unto him, Behold, here am I.
  • 1 Corinthians 2:9-16 (KJV)  But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.  10  But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.  11  For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.  12  Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.  13  Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.  14  But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.  15  But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.  16  For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

God doesn’t see things according to the old man perspective. God sees the unseen according to His word. God sees according to the Spirit. Isaac was able to see the unseen things because he was not seeing according to the physical eyes. Rather, he saw according to The Word of God aka the sacrifice. Jacob put on the new man that the sacrifice made Him to be!

  • Hebrews 10:9-17 (KJV)  Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. 18  Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
  • Ephesians 2:13-18 (KJV)  But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.  14  For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;  15  Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;  16  And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:  17  And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.  18  For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
  • Ephesians 4:24 (KJV)  And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
  • Colossians 3:9-11 (KJV)  Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;  10  And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:  11  Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

In other words, Jacob put on the new man according to God’s word! Jacob was now in the word and the word was with Jacob. Jacob was made one because of the sacrifice and therefore received the blessing from the father Isaac. Likewise, those who are born again put off the old man and put on the new man which is in Christ because Jesus made them one!

  • 1 Corinthians 6:17 (KJV)  But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
  • John 17:21-23 (KJV)  That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.  22  And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:  23  I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

Thank you Father God for the Lord Jesus Christ and what you have done for your children!

How Could God Bless Jacob Not Based On His Actions?

This is a valid question to have! I mean according to the scripture Jacob did lie and say he was Esau. He did say it was the venison dinner that Isaac wanted. Although it was actually goat.

So how could God bless Jacob based on his work or actions? It’s simple. God didn’t bless Jacob according to his works or actions. God blessed Jacob according to His word of promise spoken about Jacob! This way the promise of God according to election stands and not based on works but based on God who calleth. So what God has blessed no one can curse. (Romans 9:9-13, Numbers 23:19-24, Romans 4:4-8, Psalms 32:2)

Let’s look at a portion of scripture that relates to Jacob and Israel. In a nutshell, there was a king named Balak. He was afraid of Israel and was seeking help to curse them. He ended up speaking with Balaam because he thought whoever Balaam cursed was cursed and whoever he blessed was blessed. However, this is what happens when they try to curse them.

  • Numbers 23:19-24 (KJV)  God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?  20  Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it.  21  He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel: the LORD his God is with him, and the shout of a king is among them.  22  God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn.  23  Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought!  24  Behold, the people shall rise up as a great lion, and lift up himself as a young lion: he shall not lie down until he eat of the prey, and drink the blood of the slain.

You see it’s impossible to curse what God has already blessed and that’s exactly what happened above! Notice it says God hath not beheld the iniquity of Jacob and neither Israel! God didn’t see the iniquity of Jacob. In other words, God chose him and had to bless him because of the sacrifice!

  • Psalms 32:2 (KJV)  Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.
  • Romans 4:4-8 (KJV)  Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.  5  But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.  6  Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,  7  Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.  8  Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

Jacob was blessed and He received the same blessing Isaac and Abraham had. Why? Most people look at Jacob’s works and thats why they struggle with how God could bless him. In reality he was chosen and blessed before birth. This way the blessing came not because of works but because of grace through the Word aka Jesus that was spoken.

  • Romans 9:9-13 (KJV)  For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sara shall have a son.  10  And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by oneeven by our father Isaac;  11  (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)  12  It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.  13  As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.
  • Psalms 135:4 (KJV)  For the LORD hath chosen Jacob unto himself, and Israel for his peculiar treasure.

Just like how Abraham and Isaac were blessed by God, so was Jacob. Jacob wasn’t blessed because of his actions or works. He wasn’t blessed because of his mistakes. He was simply blessed because God chose him and the sacrifice. He couldn’t be cursed cause God blessed him!

Because of the statements above some will say is God unrighteous or unjust upon His part? No way! Just because it doesn’t “seem right” to man doesn’t mean God isn’t righteous. God is holy and righteous! Take your thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ! Look at how Paul responded to this question.

  • Proverbs 14:12 (KJV)  There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
  • 2 Corinthians 10:5 (KJV)  Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
  • Romans 9:14-18 (KJV)  What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.  15  For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.  16  So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.  17  For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.  18  Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.

Now because of that statement, some will ask why will God then find fault with people because who can resist His will? Here is what the word says.

  • Romans 9:19-24 (KJV)  Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will?  20  Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?  21  Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?  22  What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:  23  And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,  24  Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?

Think of it like this. How can patience or long-suffering be seen if there is no situation to exercise/show it? I don’t recommend anyone to commit or do evil like satan. What I’m saying is this is one scenario where God can then reveal His great patience toward those vessels. Also to show some of the power of God which in other words wouldn’t have been able to be shown.

The problem is the carnal man will war against this thought because they think they know more than the creator. They think they know a “better” way of how things should be done.

God shows his great patience to those who don’t accept Jesus. This is part of the reason why He hasn’t come back so fast. It also talks about how the clay (man) doesn’t tell the potter (God) what they think should be considered righteous or correct. This is another discussion in itself but if you want to see the full context read Romans chapter 9.

Jacob Was Chosen And So Is Every Born Again Believer Through Jesus Christ

Cross You Are Loved 900x506

The point is Jacob was chosen and mercy was given to him because of the sacrifice. Jacob wasn’t blessed because of anything he did or based on his works. Kind of like how we are not saved by our works but saved by grace and faith through Jesus Christ. Not our works cause then we could boast. We can only boast in the goodness and grace of God through Jesus Christ!

You see people who become born again are considered chosen just like Jacob. They are considered Abraham’s seed.

  • Psalms 47:4 (KJV)  He shall choose our inheritance for us, the excellency of Jacob whom he loved. Selah.
  • Psalms 105:6 (KJV)  O ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob his chosen.
  • Psalms 146:5 (KJV)  Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God:
  • Isaiah 41:8 (KJV)  But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.
  • John 15:16 (KJV)  Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
  • 2 Thessalonians 2:13-14 (KJV)  But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:  14  Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The chosen ones will ultimately come to the sacrifice (Jesus Christ) and become one through Him. This is a mystery to some but God wants His children to know the truth! It’s given to His children to know the mysteries of God!

So what’s the mystery between Jacob, the sacrifice, and believers? Without the sacrifice, He never would have received the inheritance and blessing. Jacob and the sacrifice became one. He wore the sacrifice of the goats and the sacrifice of the goats was part of him now! This is the same way with us today in Jesus Christ. We now wear Jesus and all that He has given us. Amazing is this mystery! (Genesis 27:16, Ephesians 6:13-17, Ephesians 2:13-18, John 14:17-20)

  • Genesis 27:16 (KJV)  And she put the skins of the kids of the goats upon his hands, and upon the smooth of his neck:
  • Ephesians 6:13-17 (KJV)  Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.  14  Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;  15  And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;  16  Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.  17  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
  • Jesus Is The Truth (John 14:6)
  • Jesus Is Righteousness (Romas 1:16-17, Romans 3:22,25-26, 2 Peter 1:1)
  • Jesus Is Peace (Isaiah 9:6, Ephesians 2:14)
  • Jesus Is Faith (Romans 3:22, Hebrews 12:2)
  • Jesus Is Salvation (Luke 2:30, Luke 3:6, Luke 19:9)
  • Jesus Is Spirit (1 Timothy 3:16, John 4:24, Galatians 4:6)
  • Jesus Is The Word manifested in the flesh (John 1:1,14)

We receive Jesus’s inheritance as a gift and blessing through Him. Jesus is our truth, our righteousness, our peace, our faith, our salvation, our spirit, our word. We are in Him and He is in us. We are now one through Him!

  • 1 Corinthians 12:12-14 (KJV)  For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.  13  For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.  14  For the body is not one member, but many.
  • John 14:17-20 (KJV)  Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.  18  I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.  19  Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.  20  At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
  • Ephesians 1:3-14 (KJV)  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:  4  According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:  5  Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,  6  To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.  7  In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;  8  Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;  9  Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:  10  That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:  11  In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:  12  That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.  13  In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,  14  Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

This is the truth that’s worth shouting about! THANK YOU JESUS! God chose us through His son. It’s because of that very simple truth that those who hear the gospel of Jesus Christ come to Him. His sheep hear his voice and come! We have the blessing of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Not because we deserve it or did anything to obtain it in our own strength. It’s because God chose to give it to us. He chose us and brought us to Jesus! He no longer sees our sin cause He removed it from us. He gave us his very own Spirit which dwells within us! Now we walk in the full inheritance of God through Jesus Christ. That’s some good news!

If you read this and are still wondering about it then read it again! Ask God to reveal this to you. Remember His sheep hear His voice and will hear what He is saying to them! Based on the scripture of course. If it doesn’t line up with scripture then the voice isn’t God!
