What Does It Mean Jesus Came To Heal The Broken Hearted? | Bible Truth

White Heart Folded Pages 900x506

One day I heard my dad talk about Jesus coming to fix the brokenhearted. At that moment the Holy Spirit breathed upon what was said and I suddenly understood this revelation from a fresh perspective according to the Bible. What does it mean Jesus came to heal the brokenhearted?

At the fall of man, the human heart became corrupted because of sin. This broken heart walks after the heart of detestable things and abominations. The corruptible heart loves the things of the carnal flesh and processes things that way. God knowing that the heart of man changed, decided to come down in the likeness of sinful flesh to provide a way to replace/heal the broken heart with a pure incorruptible heart. Those who are born again through Jesus Christ receive a brand new heart from God! The old heart is gone and the new heart is filled with the Spirit of God!

  • Jeremiah 17:9 (KJV)  The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
  • Luke 4:18-21 (KJV) The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, 19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. 20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. 21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.
  • Acts 28:27 (KJV)  For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
  • Ezekiel 11:19-21 (KJV) And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh: 20 That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God. 21 But as for them whose heart walketh after the heart of their detestable things and their abominations, I will recompense their way upon their own heads, saith the Lord GOD.
  • Romans 8:3-4 (KJV) For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
  • Isaiah 61:1-3 (KJV) The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; 2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; 3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
Jesus loves us so much He came and laid down His life for us and rose again. In doing so He heals the broken heart of born again believers by removing it and giving them a brand new heart! Let’s looks more into the broken heart, the new heart, and what it means to remove the stony heart so that the living water can flow.

The Broken Heart | What Does A Stony Heart Mean In The Bible?

Round Stone Rock 900x506

The Bible talks about two types of hearts. One of the hearts refers to the broken heart which every person has before being born again through Jesus Christ. This can also be referred to as a stony heart. So what does a stony heart mean in the Bible?

God says you can only serve one master. That being said the old stony heart takes after the corruptible seed which comes from the evil one the devil. This heart is evil because it does not prepare or seek after the one true God. It does not fear the Lord but rather refuses to hear and refuses to believe what Jesus Christ says. It departs from the living God. The stony heart creates wicked imaginations that cause men to walk after other false gods and live in the lust of the flesh.

  • 1 Peter 1:23 (KJV)  Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
  • 2 Chronicles 12:14 (KJV)  And he did evil, because he prepared not his heart to seek the LORD.
  • Hebrews 3:12 (KJV)  Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
  • Jeremiah 13:10 (KJV)  This evil people, which refuse to hear my words, which walk in the imagination of their heart, and walk after other gods, to serve them, and to worship them, shall even be as this girdle, which is good for nothing.
  • Proverbs 12:20 (KJV)  Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of peace is joy.
  • Mark 7:20-23 (KJV)  And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.  21  For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,  22  Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:  23  All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

When the fall occurred, the heart of people changed and became corrupted. They were now born with a corruptible seed and stony heart. Now when I mention a stony or evil heart I’m not talking about “evil” according to the world’s viewpoint. I’m referring to what God says about it!

In short, it’s very simple to know what an evil or stony heart is according to God. It’s a heart that that doesn’t want to seek or know the truth of God. It doesn’t want to believe the word of God but rather be in unbelief and depart from God. It refuses to want to hear what God says about life or a specific situation.

Therefore since God is good and the stony heart refuses to want Him, this heart then comes up with wicked and deceitful imaginations to try to “fill” their desires. Instead of desiring Jesus Christ. Even the Pharisees had a form of godliness but their heart was far from God. The old heart doesn’t want Jesus which is The Truth. It chooses to follow false gods, which appease the flesh. The corruptible heart’s desire is to do what the carnal flesh wants instead of fearing the Lord and listening to Him. An evil heart will bring forth those things which God describes as evil!

  • Genesis 6:5 (KJV)  And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
  • Genesis 8:21 (KJV)  And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake; for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.
  • Jeremiah 17:9 (KJV)  The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
  • Proverbs 6:18 (KJV)  An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
  • Matthew 12:35 (KJV)  A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
  • Hosea 4:8 (KJV)  They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity.
  • Isaiah 29:13-14 (KJV)  Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:  14  Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.
  • Mark 7:6 (KJV)  He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.

Jesus knew about this evil heart and decided to provide a way to get rid of it! In the day of Noah, the earth was flooded because of the corrupted heart of man. The wickedness of man was great in the earth and every imagination of the thoughts of that stony heart was only evil continually. Those people were led by and listened to that corrupted heart/carnal flesh. The master they served was the devil and they responded based on the corruptible seed. However, Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord and he served the one true God! That being said the other evil hearts were removed. This was a temporary solution and a shadow of things to come because there was still evil hearts that surfaced after the flood. God wants to give people a brand new heart by replacing and getting rid of the old stony heart! He wants people to repent and call upon the name of the Lord Jesus so they can be converted and healed! He wants to heal the broken heart!

  • Genesis 6:5-8 (KJV)  And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.  6  And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.  7  And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.  8  But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
  • Acts 28:27 (KJV)  For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

It’s God’s desire to destroy the old stony heart, give people a new heart, and fill them with His Spirit through Jesus Christ! However, not everyone will come to Jesus to be healed of their broken heart! So whats this new heart that is given to born again believers look like?

I Will Give You A New Heart And Put A New Spirit In You Bible Meaning

Brokenheart On String 900x506

God desires to replace the broken heart with a brand new one and fill born again believers with the Holy Ghost. So what does it mean in Ezekiel 36:26 when it states I will give you a new heart and put a new Spirit in you?

The old corruptible heart and carnal flesh is not built to contain the Holy Spirit. Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God. Corruption cannot inherit incorruption and a evil heart can’t inherit the Holy Spirit. In other words, you can’t fill old bottles with new wine because the bottle will burst. God knowing this cleanses born again believers from sin and removes them from the carnal flesh through Jesus Christ. He gives them a new heart by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost. They are filled with the Holy Spirit. They are now considered born again of God and called sons of God.

  • Ezekiel 36:25-27 (KJV)  Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.  26  A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.  27  And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
  • Romans 2:28-29 (KJV)  For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:  29  But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
  • Colossians 2:11 (KJV)  In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
  • 1 Corinthians 15:50 (KJV)  Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
  • Romans 14:17 (KJV)  For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
  • Mark 2:22 (KJV)  And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: else the new wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be marred: but new wine must be put into new bottles.
  • John 1:12-13 (KJV)  But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:  13  Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
  • Galatians 4:6-7 (KJV)  And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.  7  Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
  • Hebrews 10:22 (KJV)  Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
  • Titus 3:4-7 (KJV)  But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,   Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;  6  Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;  7  That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

God is Holy and He knew a change needed to occur with His people for the Holy Ghost to come and dwell within them. Jesus Christ is the only one who can make a person Holy and righteous. Jesus knew that He, Himself needed to sanctify us and cleanse us from sin! God forgives them, removes the sin, and remembers their iniquities no more! This is the only way the Holy Spirit could come and dwell within the born again believer and them be made one Spirit.

  • Isaiah 43:25 (KJV)  I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.
  • Ezekiel 38:23 (KJV)  Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the LORD.
  • John 17:15-23 (KJV)  I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.  16  They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.  17  Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.  18  As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.  19  And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.  20  Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;  21  That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.  22  And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:  23  I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
  • Hebrews 8:7-13 (KJV)  For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.  8  For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:  9  Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.  10  For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:  11  And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.  12  For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.  13  In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.
  • Hebrews 9:26-28 (KJV)  For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.  27  And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:  28  So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
  • Hebrews 10:9-17 (KJV)  Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.  10  By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.  11  And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:  12  But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;  13  From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.  14  For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.  15  Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,  16  This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;  17  And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
  • 1 John 3:5-10 (KJV)  And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.  6  Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.  7  Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.  8  He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.  9  Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.  10  In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
  • Acts 26:18 (KJV)  To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
  • John 16:7 (KJV)  Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
  • 1 Corinthians 6:17 (KJV)  But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

Did you know Jesus also came to destroy? He came to destroy the works of the devil! That includes the old stony corrupted heart! He came to remove/destroy sin and the corruptible seed. That stony heart was blocking the well within! God, therefore, removed that old heart so the well was no longer without water. He created His children brand new hearts and put His incorruptible seed within them! They are now in the seed and the seed is now in them. Let’s take a look at that stone that was blocking the mouth of the well.

Removing The Stony Heart Covering The Well!

Did you know the Bible mentions a well that had a stone on it? Jacob actually met his bride at this well. Here the stone would be removed and then the sheep would be watered. However, the sheep couldn’t be watered until the stone was removed. What does removing the stone from the well have to do with the stony heart being removed?

Jesus is the bridegroom and those who drink from His cup is His bride. When a person drinks the water Jesus gives which is the cup of salvation they shall never thirst again. Jesus removes the old stony heart and gives them a new heart which is strengthened by His Spirit. He waters the sheep and they are now filled with a well of living water springing up into everlasting life!

  • Ezekiel 36:26-27 (KJV)  A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.  27  And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
  • Genesis 29:1-11 (KJV)  Then Jacob went on his journey, and came into the land of the people of the east.  2  And he looked, and behold a well in the field, and, lo, there were three flocks of sheep lying by it; for out of that well they watered the flocks: and a great stone was upon the well’s mouth.  3  And thither were all the flocks gathered: and they rolled the stone from the well’s mouth, and watered the sheep, and put the stone again upon the well’s mouth in his place.  4  And Jacob said unto them, My brethren, whence be ye? And they said, Of Haran are we.  5  And he said unto them, Know ye Laban the son of Nahor? And they said, We know him.  6  And he said unto them, Is he well? And they said, He is well: and, behold, Rachel his daughter cometh with the sheep.  7  And he said, Lo, it is yet high day, neither is it time that the cattle should be gathered together: water ye the sheep, and go and feed them.  8  And they said, We cannot, until all the flocks be gathered together, and till they roll the stone from the well’s mouth; then we water the sheep.  9  And while he yet spake with them, Rachel came with her father’s sheep: for she kept them.  10  And it came to pass, when Jacob saw Rachel the daughter of Laban his mother’s brother, and the sheep of Laban his mother’s brother, that Jacob went near, and rolled the stone from the well’s mouth, and watered the flock of Laban his mother’s brother.  11  And Jacob kissed Rachel, and lifted up his voice, and wept.
  • John 4:6-14 (KJV)  Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.  7  There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.  8  (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)  9  Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.  10  Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.  11  The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?  12  Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?  13  Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:  14  But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
  • John 7:37-39 (KJV)  In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.  38  He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.  39  (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
  • Psalms 116:13 (KJV)  I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD.
  • Romans 10:13 (KJV)  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
  • Ephesians 3:14-21 (KJV)  For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,  15  Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,  16  That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;  17  That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,  18  May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;  19  And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.  20  Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,  21  Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

Similar to the well where Jacob met his bride. Jesus also meets us at the well and asks us to marry Him. He is the only one who can remove the stone from the well’s mouth so the sheep can drink and have life. The stone was preventing the sheep from drinking the water. Just like the stony heart of fallen man was preventing people from coming into communion with the Lord Jesus Christ and drinking from Him!

Those who thirst for the truth will drink what Jesus offers! When they drink they are then filled with His water. They become children of God and become a well of living water in which the water flows from within. Their strength and life come from Holy Spirit which is the Spirit of God! The Holy Spirit only speaks according to what Jesus said. Without Jesus the Holy Spirit could not come dwell inside us! However, since Jesus removed the stone from the born again believer’s well, the Holy Ghost is now overflowing from within out. The children of God are now washed clean, sanctified, and justified! The Holy Ghost now has a clean temple in which He dwells and the children of God dwell in His Spirit because of Jesus Christ.

  • 1 Corinthians 6:11 (KJV)  And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
  • Romans 8:9 (KJV)  But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Now that we have a better understanding of this let’s look at our new heart along with the new desires!

Only Jesus Can Create In Me A Clean Heart And Renew The Spirit Within

Red Heart On Wood And Table 900x506

Those who become children of God through Jesus Christ no longer have a broken heart. Jesus gave them a new clean heart. That being said, what does create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me mean?

Before a person is born again they have a broken unclean heart. This person has the spirit of the world which walks according to the prince of the power of the air. The same spirit which works in the children of disobedience whose father is the devil. When a person is born again Jesus Christ creates in them a clean heart and renews within them a new spirit! They are delivered from the bondage which once enslaved them. They are now joined unto the Lord and considered one spirit. They are now led of the Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit bears witness to them and now their heart cries out to God who is their Father. God changes them into His children known as sons. Their desires now line up with His desires! They no longer have an unclean heart that trusts the devil. They now have a clean fixed heart that trusts the Lord and is filled with the Spirit of God which is good!

  • Psalms 51:9-12 (KJV)  Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.  10  Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.  11  Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.  12  Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
  • 1 Corinthians 2:12 (KJV)  Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
  • Ephesians 2:2 (KJV)  Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
  • John 8:44 (KJV)  Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
  • Romans 8:14-17 (KJV)  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.  15  For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.  16  The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:  17  And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
  • Galatians 4:3-7 (KJV)  Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world:  4  But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,  5  To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.  6  And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.  7  Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
  • John 14:26-27 (KJV)  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.  27  Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
  • Psalms 143:10 (KJV)  Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.
  • 1 Corinthians 6:17 (KJV)  But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
  • Psalms 112:7 (KJV)  He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.

The Holy Spirit will only agree with what The Word aka Jesus says! The Word says that Jesus created a clean heart within His children and filled them with the Holy Spirit. Notice the Holy Spirit isn’t called an unclean bad spirit. The Holy Ghost is the good clean Spirit! So if anyone or anything tries to tell a born again believer you’re still unclean, or you still have an evil heart, or anything contrary to what Jesus said and did for His children. Then that’s coming from the antichrist, the liar. The one who denies Jesus is the Christ and denies the Father and the Son. Don’t listen to that liar, the fool! Listen to the Holy Spirit concerning the truth. Will you acknowledge every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus?

  • Philemon 1:4-7 (KJV)  I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers,  5  Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints;  6  That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.  7  For we have great joy and consolation in thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother.
  • 1 John 2:18-29 (KJV)  Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.  19  They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.  20  But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.  21  I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.  22  Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.  23  Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.  24  Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.  25  And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.  26  These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.  27  But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.  28  And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.  29  If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.

The born again believer has a new identity in Christ. They are filled with the Holy Spirit and have a new clean heart. Jesus has given them everything pertaining to life and godliness! They are led in life by the Spirit of God and their desires now line up with God’s desires.

  • 2 Peter 1:2-4 (KJV)  Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,  3  According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:   Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
  • Philippians 2:13 (KJV)  For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
  • Colossians 2:2-4 (KJV)  That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;  3  In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.  4  And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.
  • Colossians 2:6-12 (KJV)  As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:  7  Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.  8  Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.   For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.  10  And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:  11  In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:  12  Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

Do you know that? Are you lacking any good thing? Is God working in you to do of His good pleasure now? Are you full of everything Jesus paid a price for? Do you have the divine nature? If you said no and you’re born again, who told you no? Cause the Holy Spirit doesn’t talk that way…

  • Romans 8:5-11 (KJV)  For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.  6  For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.  7  Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.  8  So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.  9  But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.  10  And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.  11  But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

As a reminder, the carnal flesh agrees with the carnal mind. If your a child of God through Jesus Christ thats no longer you or your mind. Those who are of the Spirit have the mind of Christ and agree with the Spirit. That doesn’t mean carnal thoughts stop dropping in from time to time if you’re born again. That’s why the Spirit says to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. What this means is, every thought that lines up with God’s word is the Child of God’s thoughts. Every thought that is enmity against God is no longer their thought. You are not double minded. You have one mind! I say this because as you read what Jesus made you to be in Him. The carnal mind and those who think that way will be enmity against what God said!

  • 2 Corinthians 10:4-6 (KJV)  (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)  5  Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;   And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
  • 1 Corinthians 2:16 (KJV)  For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

Attributes Of The New Clean Heart According To The Bible

Let’s take a look at the attributes of the new clean heart God gave His Children. This way they aren’t fooled when the deceiver comes trying to put a stone over the well’s mouth to try to prevent the flow of water. God removed that old stony heart so the living water could flow!

  • 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Jesus made the born again believer clean and gave them a brand new heart! He filled them with the Holy Ghost and they are now in Christ! Old things have passed away and all things have become new!

Jesus sent His Spirit into the born again believers hearts by faith. They are now sealed with the Holy Ghost and anointed by God. They are now considered children of God and the Holy Spirit will never leave them or forsake them! They are filled with the fullness of God!

  • 2 Corinthians 1:21-22 (KJV)  Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God;  22  Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.
  • Hebrews 13:5 (KJV)  Let your conversation be without covetousness; and becontent with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
  • Deuteronomy 31:6 (KJV)  Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
  • Matthew 28:18-20 (KJV)  And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.  19  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:  20  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
  • Ephesians 3:16-21 (KJV)  That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;  17  That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,  18  May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;  19  And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.  20  Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,  21  Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
  • Galatians 4:6-7 (KJV)  And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.  7  Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

Jesus Made The Perfect Heart For The Holy Spirit To Dwell

Think about this. Since God is incorruptible and corruption cannot inherit incorruption. Why do you think God changed the born again believer’s heart? He needed the perfect place to stay! I’m not saying born again believers by their our own works made themself perfect. I’m saying Jesus paid a price to make them who they are in Him. In other words, Jesus didn’t give the believer a new heart that could barely get by or that still had flaws. He gave them the perfect heart to be triumphant in any situation by His Spirit! They co labor with Christ and He causes them to walk in victory because they are already in vitory!

  • Luke 17:20-21 (KJV)  And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:  21  Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
  • 2 Chronicles 16:9 (KJV)  For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.
  • 2 Chronicles 19:9 (KJV)  And he charged them, saying, Thus shall ye do in the fear of the LORD, faithfully, and with a perfect heart.
  • Psalms 101:2 (KJV)  I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.
  • 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (KJV)  What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?  20  For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
  • 2 Corinthians 13:11 (KJV)  Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.
  • Philippians 3:12-16 (KJV)  Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.  13  Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,  14  I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.  15  Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.  16  Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.
  • Colossians 1:27-29 (KJV)  To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:  28  Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:  29  Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.
  • 1 Corinthians 3:9 (KJV)  For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.
  • 2 Timothy 3:14-17 (KJV)  But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;  15  And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.  16  All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:  17  That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Again, I’m saying God through Jesus Christ by faith made those who are born again perfect in Him. This is because He is perfect and joined them unto Himself. In other words, God is the potter and we are the clay. If the potter took a lump of clay and changed it into a perfect masterpiece and then named that masterpiece His children through Jesus Christ. Who is the clay to rename themself something else than what the potter said? Don’t you know the believer has treasure hidden in earthen vessels?

  • Jeremiah 18:1-4 (KJV)  The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,  2  Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.  3  Then I went down to the potter’s house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.  4  And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.
  • Romans 9:19-26 (KJV)  Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will?  20  Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?  21  Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?  22  What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:  23  And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,  24  Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?  25  As he saith also in Osee, I will call them my people, which were not my people; and her beloved, which was not beloved.  26  And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God.
  • 2 Corinthians 4:7 (KJV)  But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

Think of it like this. As we read earlier Jesus sent His Spirit into the heart of those who are saved by Him. Now every good gift and perfect gift is from above. Jesus sent the Holy Spirit from above into their hearts. Is the Holy Spirit considered a perfect gift? Of course! Now, remember the scripture says those who are joined unto the Lord is now considered one Spirit. So if you’re joined unto the Lord who is the perfect gift, then what’s that make you now in Christ? Are you considered made perfect by Jesus in God’s eyes? The Holy Ghost will only agree with what Jesus said, The Word. The Word says you have been made brand new and are now righteous in Him through Jesus Christ. Born again believers, we now know no man after the flesh, but rather know according to The Word which is according to God. The antichrist, carnal mind, carnal flesh, will not agree with what God said. So if you’re born again, cast down any imaginations and high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God! Bring into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ!

  • James 1:17-18 (KJV)  Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.  18  Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
  • 1 Corinthians 6:17 (KJV)  But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
  • 1 Corinthians 12:12-13 (KJV)  For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.  13  For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
  • 1 Corinthians 10:17 (KJV)  For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.
  • Colossians 3:15 (KJV)  And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
  • 2 Corinthians 5:14-21 (KJV)  For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:  15  And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.  16  Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.  17  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.  18  And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;  19  To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.  20  Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.  21  For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Those who are saved by God through Jesus have a new pure heart. They are blessed and see God! They are glad in the Lord and rejoice because He made them righteous.

  • Psalms 27:8 (KJV)  When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.
  • Psalms 32:11 (KJV)  Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.
  • Matthew 5:8 (KJV)  Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

This pure heart takes on the characteristics of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit causes the fruit of the Spirit to flow out in their life. He will teach His children and the water will be drawn out of the well.

  • Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV)  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,  23  Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
  • Ephesians 5:8-10 (KJV)  For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:  9  (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)  10  Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
  • Proverbs 20:5 (KJV)  Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out.

In other words, the new heart is full of these things according to Strong’s and/or Thayer’s definition.

  • Full of love which is brotherly love, affection, goodwill, and benevolence.
  • Full of joy which is gladness.
  • Full of peace which is quietness, rest, set at one again.
  • Full of longsuffering which is patience, endurance, constancy, steadfastness, perseverance, slowness in avenging wrongs.
  • Full of gentleness which is kindness, moral goodness, integrity, benignity.
  • Full of goodness which is uprightness of heart and life, virtue, kindness.
  • Full of faith which is the truthfulness of God, reliance upon Christ, belief, assurance, conviction of the truth, belief respecting person’s relationship to God and divine things, holy fervour born of faith and joined with it.
  • Full of meekness which is gentleness, humility, mildness.
  • Full of temperence which is self control, the virtue of one who masters his desires and passions, especially sensual appetites.

The new heart agrees with the word of God. The word of God discerns the intent of the heart and thoughts. The word says that God no longer remembers His children’s sin and that He removed their sin from them. Therefore the new heart agrees and thinks this way.

  • Hebrews 4:12 (KJV)  For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
  • Hebrews 8:10-12 (KJV)  For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:  11  And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.  12  For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
  • Hebrews 10:16-17 (KJV)  This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;  17  And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
  • Philippians 3:13 (KJV)  Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
  • Psalms 25:7 (KJV)  Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness’ sake, O LORD.
  • Isaiah 43:25 (KJV)  I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.
  • Psalms 103:12 (KJV)  As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
  • Acts 10:43 (KJV)  To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
  • Titus 2:14 (KJV)  Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
  • Hebrews 9:28 (KJV)  So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
  • 1 John 3:5-6 (KJV)  And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.  6  Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
  • 1 John 3:9 (KJV)  Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
  • Revelation 1:5 (KJV)  And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

The new heart is reminded according to The Word that the “old man” they use to be was destroyed along with their deeds, and buried in the baptism of Jesus death. They are reminded of who they are now which is risen with Christ in the “new man”.

  • Romans 6:3-14 (KJV)  Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?  4  Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.  5  For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:  6  Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.  7  For he that is dead is freed from sin.  8  Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:  9  Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.  10  For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.  11  Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.  12  Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.  13  Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.  14  For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
  • Colossians 3:1-17 (KJV)  If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.  2  Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.  3  For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.  4  When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.  5  Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:  6  For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:   In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.  8  But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.  9  Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;  10  And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:  11  Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.  12  Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;  13  Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.  14  And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.  15  And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.  16  Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.  17  And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
  • Ephesians 2:1-22 (KJV)  And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;  2  Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:  3  Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.  4  But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,  5  Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)  6  And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:   That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.  8  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:  9  Not of works, lest any man should boast.  10  For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.  11  Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;  12  That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:  13  But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.  14  For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;  15  Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;  16  And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:  17  And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.  18  For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.  19  Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;  20  And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;  21  In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:  22  In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
  • Ephesians 4:17-32 (KJV)  This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,  18  Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:  19  Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.  20  But ye have not so learned Christ;  21  If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:  22  That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;  23  And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;  24  And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.  25  Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.  26  Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:  27  Neither give place to the devil.  28  Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.  29  Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.  30  And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.  31  Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:  32  And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

The new heart knows the goodness of God and what was given to them freely by faith through Jesus Christ. Knowing that they freely received, they freely want to give. So as they go sharing the good news about Jesus, the Holy Spirit is with them leading and guiding them. The Lord also confirming signs/wonders to draw people to true love, who is Jesus Christ!

  • 1 Corinthians 2:12 (KJV)  Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
  • John 6:44 (KJV)  No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
  • Mark 16:14-20 (KJV)  Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.  15  And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.  16  He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.  17  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;  18  They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.  19  So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.  20  And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.
  • Matthew 10:7-10 (KJV)  And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.  8  Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.  9  Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses,  10  Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.
  • Luke 10:9 (KJV)  And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.
  • Mark 9:38-41 (KJV)  And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us.  39  But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.  40  For he that is not against us is on our part.  41  For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.
  • Acts 3:16 (KJV)  And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

The New Heart In Christ Cries Out For Those Who Are Lost!

The new heart knows that God wants everyone to come to Him. It’s His will for all to be saved but not all will be saved. This is because some rather have evil than good. Some want a corruptible crown instead of an incorruptible. They will choose to reject Jesus Christ. Knowing this the new heart cries out for those who commit abominations and are deceived.

  • 1 Timothy 2:3-8 (KJV)  For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;  4  Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.  5  For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;  6  Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.  7  Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.   I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
  • 1 Corinthians 1:18 (KJV)  For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
  • Luke 9:53-56 (KJV)  And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem.  54  And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?  55  But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.  56  For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.
  • Ezekiel 9:3-4 (KJV)  And the glory of the God of Israel was gone up from the cherub, whereupon he was, to the threshold of the house. And he called to the man clothed with linen, which had the writer’s inkhorn by his side;  4  And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.
  • Luke 23:34 (KJV)  Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
  • Romans 10:1 (KJV)  Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.
  • 1 Corinthians 9:22 (KJV)  To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.
  • 1 Corinthians 9:25 (KJV)  And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.
  • 2 Peter 3:9 (KJV)  The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
  • Luke 19:10 (KJV)  For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
  • Acts 26:18 (KJV)  To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

When you know the truth about the new heart. Then you know God’s desire is to save the lost. We all were lost at one point. We all had a stone upon the well of our heart before Christ. Jesus removed that stone and gave us living water. Look at the situation with Lazarus and Jesus. Jesus who is the resurrection and life was in their midst. The stony hearts and stone over the grave were trying to blind the people so they couldn’t see the light standing right before them.

  • John 11:14-16 (KJV)  Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.  15  And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.  16  Then said Thomas, which is called Didymus, unto his fellowdisciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him.

Notice Jesus is glad that He wasn’t there at first for their sakes because now they will see the light shine bright. Yet Thomas hearing these words think they are about to go die physically there as well.

  • John 11:19-27 (KJV)  And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.  20  Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house.  21  Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.  22  But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.  23  Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.  24  Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.  25  Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:  26  And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?  27  She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.

Jesus doesn’t have a stony heart. Notice how He responds. He tells them what’s about to take place before it does. Now pay attention to Jesus’s heart and the brokenhearted in this situation.

  • Psalms 34:17-19 (KJV)  The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.  18  The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.  19  Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.
  • Psalms 147:3 (KJV)  He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.
  • John 11:28-37 (KJV)  And when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee.  29  As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly, and came unto him.  30  Now Jesus was not yet come into the town, but was in that place where Martha met him.  31  The Jews then which were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up hastily and went out, followed her, saying, She goeth unto the grave to weep there.  32  Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.  33  When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled,  34  And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see.  35  Jesus wept.  36  Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!  37  And some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died?  38  Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.  39  Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.  40  Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?  41  Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.  42  And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.  43  And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.  44  And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.

Look at the heart of Jesus and the heart of the others. Remember Jesus said it was better for them that He came after Lazarus was already dead for their sakes. Jesus knew He was about to raise Lazarus from the dead. He wanted them to see the glory of God and that He was sent of the Father. However, look at all the unbelief of the people. Jesus the life, the resurrection is there in the midst about to raise Lazarus from the dead. He was doing this so they might believe in Him. However, right now they are sad mourning Lazarus’s death as if there is nothing Jesus can do because it’s to late. This is what caused Jesus to groan in the spirit and what troubled Him. This is what caused Jesus to weep. Not because Lazarus was dead but because the stony heart of man was blinding the eyes so they could not see and understand the truth about Himself. The sheep were gathered but they didn’t know or understand how to eat/drink from Jesus. Notice the old stony heart vs Jesus heart who cried and groaned for them to know the truth. Thank God Jesus was led of the Spirit! So that the stone was removed and Lazarus came forth alive for them to see. Jesus wanted them to know the truth about who He was and the glory of God!

We now get to bring that living water to those near the well without a way to draw the water for a drink. We get the great honor of sharing with them Jesus Christ so He can remove their stony heart. So He can give them a new heart and well of living water within them also. He wants them to receive true life in Christ and become alive in Him!

  • John 12:40 (KJV)  He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.
  • Genesis 29:2-3 (KJV)  And he looked, and behold a well in the field, and, lo, there were three flocks of sheep lying by it; for out of that well they watered the flocks: and a great stone was upon the well’s mouth.  3  And thither were all the flocks gathered: and they rolled the stone from the well’s mouth, and watered the sheep, and put the stone again upon the well’s mouth in his place.
  • Genesis 29:7-8 (KJV)  And he said, Lo, it is yet high day, neither is it time that the cattle should be gathered together: water ye the sheep, and go and feed them.  8  And they said, We cannot, until all the flocks be gathered together, and till they roll the stone from the well’s mouth; then we water the sheep.
  • John 4:13-14 (KJV)  Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:  14  But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
  • John 4:25-26 (KJV)  The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.  26  Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.
  • John 4:35 (KJV)  Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

Child of God, Jesus gave you His heart so you can walk according to the Spirit and bring life which is Jesus wherever you go today! Remember God removed the stone from your well! He has given you dominion on earth today through Jesus Christ! Take a good look around you and what’s going on. Do you see any that are thirsty? Do they look dehydrated because there is a stone on their wells mouth? They are waiting for you to show up so God removes their stone and reveals to them the truth about Jesus Christ! They are waiting for the gift of God! The time is now. Share the cold water Jesus gave you to drink with others! Tell them the good news! Freely you have received so freely give! The sheep are hungry and ready to drink.

  • Genesis 1:26-30 (KJV)  And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.  27  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.  28  And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.  29  And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.  30  And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.

  • Acts 13:22 (KJV)  And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.
  • Proverbs 25:25 (KJV)  As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.
  • John 4:10 (KJV)  Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
  • Matthew 10:40-42 (KJV)  He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.  41  He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward.  42  And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.
