Why Did Satan AKA Lucifer Rebel Or Sin In The Bible?

Angel On Earth Looking To Heaven 900x506

Most Christians have an idea of who Satan is and how he is evil. Also how he deceived Adam/Eve to sin. They even know he used to be known as the angel Lucifer and was considered good before he fell. Knowing these things is helpful but it still doesn’t answer why Satan aka Lucifer rebelled against God.

Satan aka Lucifer rebelled in the Bible because he wanted what God gave to man. God created man in His own image. He gave man dominion over the creatures and the entire earth. Lucifer saw how God created man in His image and wanted that for himself. He then deceived Adam/Eve into sin. Satan has no power of his own cause he has been cursed by God. However, he deceives some people and uses their power/dominion God gave them for his own purposes. (Genesis 1:26-30, Genesis 3:14, Psalms 115:16, Genesis 3:14, Ezekiel 28:15, Isaiah 14:12-15)

  • Genesis 1:26-30 (KJV)  And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.  27  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.  28  And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.  29  And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.  30  And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
  • Psalms 115:16 (KJV)  The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD’S: but the earth hath he given to the children of men.
  • Genesis 3:14 (KJV)  And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
  • Ezekiel 28:15 (KJV)  Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
  • Isaiah 14:12-15 (KJV)  How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!  13  For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:  14  I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.  15  Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

This is an exciting truth to understand because it reveals how precious God thought it was to create us in His image! It reveals how valuable we are in God’s eyes. Even Lucifer wanted to be blessed the same way. Unfortunately, Satan made a bad decision and has no hope. If you want to know more details about this and why Lucifer sinned then keep on reading.

Satan's Fall And Sin In The Bible | KJV

To help understand the fall and sin of Satan, we must know what he fell from. Before the term, Satan came about he was actually known as the angel Lucifer. Some Christians think Lucifer was created with a flaw but that’s not what the Bible teaches.

Before Lucifer's AKA Satan's Fall In The Bible | KJV

Before Lucifer Rebelled and Sinned, God actually created him perfect in every way. Lucifer was considered God’s example of complete wisdom and beauty. Every precious stone was his covering. He was the anointed Cherub that covers and protects. He was on the holy mountain of God in Eden and walked in the midst of precious jewels. (Ezekiel 28:12-15)

  • Ezekiel 28:12-15 (KJV)  Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.  13  Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.  14  Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.  15  Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.

Whether you believe it or not, Lucifer was at one point considered perfect. He was full of wisdom and beauty. All the precious stones were his decoration. He was in Eden the Garden of God before man was put there. He was a unique angel that was called the anointed cherub that covereth.

The word anointed in this passage is only used one time in the Old Testament. The Hebrew word is mimshach.

  • Strong’s Definition for this word anointed is in the sense of expansionoutspread (that is, with outstretched wings): – anointed.

The word covereth in Hebrew is sakak.

  • Strong’s Definition for this word covereth is to entwine as a screen; by implication to fence in, cover over, (figuratively) protect: – cover, defence, defend, hedge in, join together, set, shut up.

Lucifer was anointed to cover and protect. That would also mean to cover and protect man when man was created. He was supposed to do that according to God’s word. This was part of his role as the anointed Cherub. However, we know how that turned out and he rebelled/sinned against God’s word.

Scripture even referenced how Lucifer was a special tree in the Garden of Eden. One that the other trees would envy.

  • Ezekiel 31:3-9 (KJV)  Behold, the Assyrian was a cedar in Lebanon with fair branches, and with a shadowing shroud, and of an high stature; and his top was among the thick boughs.  4  The waters made him great, the deep set him up on high with her rivers running round about his plants, and sent out her little rivers unto all the trees of the field.  5  Therefore his height was exalted above all the trees of the field, and his boughs were multiplied, and his branches became long because of the multitude of waters, when he shot forth.  6  All the fowls of heaven made their nests in his boughs, and under his branches did all the beasts of the field bring forth their young, and under his shadow dwelt all great nations.  7  Thus was he fair in his greatness, in the length of his branches: for his root was by great waters.  8  The cedars in the garden of God could not hide him: the fir trees were not like his boughs, and the chesnut trees were not like his branches; nor any tree in the garden of God was like unto him in his beauty.  9  I have made him fair by the multitude of his branches: so that all the trees of Eden, that were in the garden of God, envied him.

This passage is referring to the Assyrian but its also symbolic of Lucifer aka Satan before he rebelled and sinned. There is a lot going on here so let’s break some of this down.

  • Ezekiel 31:3-4 (KJV)  Behold, the Assyrian was a cedar in Lebanon with fair branches, and with a shadowing shroud, and of an high stature; and his top was among the thick boughs.  4  The waters made him great, the deep set him up on high with her rivers running round about his plants, and sent out her little rivers unto all the trees of the field.
  • Ezekiel 28:14 (KJV)  Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.

Lucifer was full of beauty, height, and greatness. He was the anointed cherub that covereth with a shadowing shroud. He was set up on high with great stature. However, the only reason Lucifer was considered any of these things is because of the water. The water made Lucifer great aka God made Lucifer great.

  • Ezekiel 31:5-7 (KJV)  Therefore his height was exalted above all the trees of the field, and his boughs were multiplied, and his branches became long because of the multitude of waters, when he shot forth.  6  All the fowls of heaven made their nests in his boughs, and under his branches did all the beasts of the field bring forth their young, and under his shadow dwelt all great nations.  7  Thus was he fair in his greatness, in the length of his branches: for his root was by great waters.

He towered above all the trees of the field. His main branches were multiplied and grew long. All the fowls of heaven made their nest in the main branches. The beast of the field was underneath his shadow or covering. He was considered great and beautiful. This was only because of the multitude of waters because his roots were near the great water. The tree was amazing only because of the water! Without water, the tree can not stand!

  • Ezekiel 31:8-9 (KJV)  The cedars in the garden of God could not hide him: the fir trees were not like his boughs, and the chesnut trees were not like his branches; nor any tree in the garden of God was like unto him in his beauty.  9  I have made him fair by the multitude of his branches: so that all the trees of Eden, that were in the garden of God, envied him.

The other’s were not created like him. He was unique in his beauty. The other’s in the Garden of God were zealous of him.

In summary, he got to see how God formed and created things. He saw who God was and how he functioned. God made him unique. He saw what the Kingdom of God was like.

Everything was fine for Lucifer until he saw God create man in the image of God. Lucifer never saw God create such a special valuable creation before. He was considered unique up until this point, but not like man. He became jealous of how God blessed man and pride took over. He knew certain things would be different from that point on.

Lucifer's Fall In The Bible | The Creation Of Man | KJV

Baby Sleeping 900x506

Remember where Lucifer was? He was in the garden of God aka Eden. Where was Eden? The earth.

Lucifer ultimately realized things were going to be different in the Garden now. God created man in His image and gave them the earth. Man now had power/dominion over the earth, the creatures, and every living thing that moved upon the earth.

  • Psalms 115:16 (KJV)  The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD’S: but the earth hath he given to the children of men.
  • Ezekiel 28:13-14 (KJV)  Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.  14  Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
  • Genesis 1:26 (KJV)  And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
  • Genesis 1:28 (KJV)  And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

Prior to this Lucifer was in the Garden of Eden. Man wasn’t a part of the equation at that point so he didn’t have a problem. Once man was created his status shifted. Now God gave man dominion and power over him. Scripture even states that angels are ministering spirits sent to minister to and for the heirs of salvation.

  • Hebrews 1:13-14 (KJV)  But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?  14  Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
  • Mark 1:13 (KJV)  And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him.

The angels role was now shifting. Lucifer’s role was shifting. Prior he only had to listen to God. However, when God created man, God said man now has dominion over you too. Your role is to cover, protect and minister to and for man. In other words, born again believers/heirs of salvation.

Lucifer didn’t like this. He wanted what man now had. He didn’t want to listen to man. He wanted to be like God. He wanted to be created in God’s image like man was.

So Lucifer decided to lift himself up high. He forgot the reason he was great and perfect to begin with. It was because of the great waters, God. Lucifer’s/Satan’s heart became lifted up. He decided he was going to try to become like the most high God on his own. He thought he could ascend into heaven and exalt his own throne above the stars of God. He thought he could ascend above the cloud and be just like the most High. Just like how God created man in his own image.

  • Ezekiel 31:4 (KJV)  The waters made him great, the deep set him up on high with her rivers running round about his plants, and sent out her little rivers unto all the trees of the field.
  • Ezekiel 31:7 (KJV)  Thus was he fair in his greatness, in the length of his branches: for his root was by great waters.
  • Ezekiel 31:10 (KJV)  Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast lifted up thyself in height, and he hath shot up his top among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height;
  • Isaiah 14:12-14 (KJV)  How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!  13  For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:  14  I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

Pride arose in Lucifer’s heart. He thought he was great because of himself. He didn’t realize he was only considered great because of The Word of God. He forgot the truth and wanted what God gave to man. Let’s look at some scriptures.

  • Genesis 1:27 (KJV)  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
  • Mark 4:30-32 (KJV)  And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it?  31 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth:  32  But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.
  • Luke 13:18-19 (KJV)  Then said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I resemble it?  19  It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his garden; and it grew, and waxed a great tree; and the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it.

We discussed earlier that Lucifer was considered a beautiful tree in the Garden. A tree where the fowls of the air lodged and the beast of the field was underneath. In the New Testament Jesus explains this parable from a different perspective.

In short, we are now considered the seed in the parable of the great tree. Jesus sows his children into the world. Through Jesus aka The Word, we grow into a great tree. Because of Jesus, we grow into an amazing tree that the fowls of the air lodge in. (Check out the other post on this website explaining this parable more in-depth: “I Never Heard This Meaning on the Mustard Seed in the Bible”)

It’s a good lesson to remember that the only reason we are such a great tree now is because of the one who planted us and the water. Jesus/God/His Word is the reason we are considered great. Don’t ever forget that.

That being said Satan was bothered at the creation of man. He wanted to be created in God’s image. He wanted to become like God. So he decided to rebel and fell.

So what was Lucifer’s/Satan’s plan to become like God? How can he achieve such a thing? Lucifer knew that he was unable to trick God. So he went and deceived man. This way he could use man’s power without them realizing. He lied to man and man accepted the lie as if it were the truth.

  • Genesis 3:1-6 (KJV)  Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?  2  And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:  3  But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.  4  And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:  5  For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.  6  And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

Lucifer forsook his role to cover/protect and rejected God’s word. He chose to deceive man. He chose to rebel at the cost of trying to use what God gave to man. His new identity Satan is born. He chose the wrong thing. Now God deals with him accordingly.

  • Genesis 3:14-15 (KJV)  And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:  15  And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
  • Ezekiel 31:10-18 (KJV)  Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast lifted up thyself in height, and he hath shot up his top among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height;  11  I have therefore delivered him into the hand of the mighty one of the heathen; he shall surely deal with him: I have driven him out for his wickedness.  12  And strangers, the terrible of the nations, have cut him off, and have left him: upon the mountains and in all the valleys his branches are fallen, and his boughs are broken by all the rivers of the land; and all the people of the earth are gone down from his shadow, and have left him.  13  Upon his ruin shall all the fowls of the heaven remain, and all the beasts of the field shall be upon his branches:  14  To the end that none of all the trees by the waters exalt themselves for their height, neither shoot up their top among the thick boughs, neither their trees stand up in their height, all that drink water: for they are all delivered unto death, to the nether parts of the earth, in the midst of the children of men, with them that go down to the pit.  15  Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day when he went down to the grave I caused a mourning: I covered the deep for him, and I restrained the floods thereof, and the great waters were stayed: and I caused Lebanon to mourn for him, and all the trees of the field fainted for him.  16  I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to hell with them that descend into the pit: and all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, shall be comforted in the nether parts of the earth.  17  They also went down into hell with him unto them that be slain with the sword; and they that were his arm, that dwelt under his shadow in the midst of the heathen.  18  To whom art thou thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? yet shalt thou be brought down with the trees of Eden unto the nether parts of the earth: thou shalt lie in the midst of the uncircumcised with them that be slain by the sword. This is Pharaoh and all his multitude, saith the Lord GOD.
  • Isaiah 14:15-23 (KJV)  Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.  16  They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;  17  That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?  18  All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house.  19  But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase trodden under feet.  20  Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land, and slain thy people: the seed of evildoers shall never be renowned.  21  Prepare slaughter for his children for the iniquity of their fathers; that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities.  22  For I will rise up against them, saith the LORD of hosts, and cut off from Babylon the name, and remnant, and son, and nephew, saith the LORD.  23  I will also make it a possession for the bittern, and pools of water: and I will sweep it with the besom of destruction, saith the LORD of hosts.

Lucifer aka Satan has been cursed by God. He is cursed above all cattle and beast of the field. That means every dog or cat has more power than him! He is a broken withering branch waiting for his destruction in the pits of hell. He has no hope. All because he disobeyed, rebelled, and sinned against God’s word.

Satan's Fall In The Bible | God Restores Man

Jesus On Cross On Bible 900x506

God knew that this would happen and had a plan in place from the foundation of the world. Lucifer tricked man and now people’s identity was distorted because of sin. God had a plan to restore man back to their original state before sin and set them free from the lie of Satan.

  • Genesis 3:15 (KJV)  And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

You see God put enmity between the Serpent’s seed and her seed. Between God’s Word and the Serpent’s lie.

  • Ezekiel 31:11 (KJV)  I have therefore delivered him into the hand of the mighty one of the heathen; he shall surely deal with him: I have driven him out for his wickedness.
  • John 8:23 (KJV)  And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.

This word heathen here in the greek is goy. It also means a foreign nation. So this word “heathen” can also be used in that context as well.

We also know scripture talks about Jesus coming from above and not being from this world. Satan was delivered into the hand of the mighty one which is Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is from a different nation. Jesus has dealt with Satan and driven him out for his wickedness.

The Serpent’s head has been bruised by Jesus’s heel. The lie has been exposed and bruised under the feet of the Word which is the truth. The Serpent is underneath Jesus’s feet. Jesus dealt with the problem caused by Lucifer. Jesus walked all over Satan on the way to the cross being led by the Spirit. Satan has already been defeated.

  • Ephesians 1:20-22 (KJV)  Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,  21  Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:  22  And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
  • 1 Corinthians 15:27 (KJV)  For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.
  • Hebrews 2:8-9 (KJV)  Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.  9  But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

Jesus fixed the problem that Satan did to man through His own body at the Cross. Jesus became a sacrifice for the sin of the world. He dealt with it once and for all who believe. God restored those that accept Him back to their original state of being as if they never sinned. I’m referring to those that come, repent, believe in, and trust what Jesus accomplished for them.

  • Hebrews 10:7-17 (KJV)  Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.  8  Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;  9  Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.  10  By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.  11  And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:  12  But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;  13  From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.  14  For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.  15  Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,  16  This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;  17  And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
  • 2 Corinthians 5:17-21 (KJV)  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.  18  And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;  19  To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.  20  Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.  21  For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Satan has no power of his own against people. He simply deceives people and uses their authority/power against themselves. That’s what happened to Adam/Eve at the Garden. He deceived them with a lie and Adam/Eve believed it. He tells people a lie and some people choose to believe the lie.

Think of it like this, in Moses time Pharaoh was building a kingdom. How did he build it? He built it on the backs of God’s people. This was before God sent Moses to say let my people go and bring them out of that place!

  • Exodus 2:23-25 (KJV)  And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage.  24  And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.  25  And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God had respect unto them.
  • Exodus 5:1-10 (KJV)  And afterward Moses and Aaron went in, and told Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness.  2  And Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go.  3  And they said, The God of the Hebrews hath met with us: let us go, we pray thee, three days’ journey into the desert, and sacrifice unto the LORD our God; lest he fall upon us with pestilence, or with the sword.  4  And the king of Egypt said unto them, Wherefore do ye, Moses and Aaron, let the people from their works? get you unto your burdens.  5  And Pharaoh said, Behold, the people of the land now are many, and ye make them rest from their burdens.  6  And Pharaoh commanded the same day the taskmasters of the people, and their officers, saying,  7  Ye shall no more give the people straw to make brick, as heretofore: let them go and gather straw for themselves.  8  And the tale of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall lay upon them; ye shall not diminish ought thereof: for they be idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God.  9  Let there more work be laid upon the men, that they may labour therein; and let them not regard vain words.  10  And the taskmasters of the people went out, and their officers, and they spake to the people, saying, Thus saith Pharaoh, I will not give you straw.

Jesus came to the captives free from sin and the slave mentality. Satan doesn’t want believers to know they have been set free so he tries to deceive them. Satan tries to make them think they are still enslaved and have to live according to the carnal flesh. He wants them live a life as a slave. However, if the Son makes you free then your free indeed!

  • John 8:36 (KJV)  If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

To some, it’s as if Satan is unstoppable and the solution is impossible. Trust the truth that God says. Don’t trust the lie the serpent says.

  • Genesis 3:15 (KJV)  And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
  • Romans 8:5-7 (KJV)  For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.  6  For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.  7  Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
  • Proverbs 18:20-21 (KJV)  A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.  21  Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
  • Proverbs 23:7 (KJV)  For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.

This is why it’s so important to trust and believe God’s word only!

The Devil at one point had the power of death but not anymore. Jesus defeated the Devil and has the keys to the power of death. Part of the good news is that born again believers no longer need to fear death.

  • Hebrews 2:14-15 (KJV)  Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;  15  And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
  • Revelation 1:18 (KJV)  I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

The truth is Jesus is the head of all principality and power. That means what He says goes! Jesus says the born again believer is considered complete in Him! Jesus also says He put Satan under the feet of every born again believer. So Satan is underneath Jesus’s feet and Jesus is in the heart of the believer. So therefore by faith, Satan is also underneath the born again believers feet through Christ. Believe it!

  • Colossians 2:9-10 (KJV)  For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.  10  And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
  • Romans 16:20 (KJV)  And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
  • Ephesians 3:17 (KJV)  That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
  • Psalms 8:4-9 (KJV)  What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?  5  For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.  6  Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:  7  All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;  8  The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.  9  O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

If Satan aka Lucifer never sinned then Jesus wouldn’t have needed to be manifested in the flesh. As a reminder from earlier, Lucifer was created perfectly. So beginning here must mean the beginning of Earth when God created man. (Verse Below) The reason Jesus was manifested in the flesh was to destroy the works of the devil. Jesus accomplished this. Jesus came to puts things back in order according to His Word and purpose. He came to reveal the truth.

  • 1 John 3:8 (KJV)  He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

But wait! There is more! Jesus even destroys the works of the devil through believers! Look at what Jesus said as he worked with/through the disciples.

  • Luke 10:17-19 (KJV)  And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.  18  And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.  19  Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

God has given believers power to tread on serpents! He gave us power over the enemy! Nothing shall hurt us cause God is with us! We now tread on serpents. While Jesus sees the kingdom of darkness become ash upon the Earth! God says that he will lay Satan before kings. Those kings will behold Satan cursed, withering away, no power, under their feet. Who are the kings? Jesus says that He has made us kings.

  • Ezekiel 28:17-18 (KJV)  Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.  18  Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.
  • Revelation 5:10 (KJV)  And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

The day that the man ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil was the day man died. Satan went about using what God gave to man against them. He shook the nations by making man believe his lies. He is still doing that to some today! However, God has given back power and authority to born again believers/Christians. We can now live life on Earth by the Spirit with power and authority given to us by Jesus. We can now live life destroying the works of the devil wherever we go cause God is with us!

  • Matthew 16:19 (KJV)  And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
  • Psalms 115:16 (KJV)  The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD’S: but the earth hath he given to the children of men.
  • 1 John 4:4 (KJV)  Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

God has restored us back to our original value. We are now in a place where we can live in victory. Satan is under our feet because of Jesus Christ. Through the fall, Satan caused man to Sin. However, Jesus has removed sin for all those who believe and follow Him. God wants us to now live according to His gift given to us. Jesus restored us back to a place without sin. It’s only possible through Him. Born again believers/Christians are now considered one with Jesus/The Father. We are now considered righteous and get to share the good news about what Jesus has done with the world.

  • 1 John 3:1 (KJV)  Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
  • 1 John 3:5 (KJV)  And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
  • John 17:19-21 (KJV)  And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.  20  Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;  21  That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
  • Romans 3:21-26 (KJV)  But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;  22  Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:  23  For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;  24  Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:  25  Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;  26  To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
